Wrapping up 2017 and Happy New Year!
Happy 2018 y'all!!!
These past few months have been a whirlwind, and I feel so lucky to have gotten to end this past year collaborating with some amazing friends and artists!
It's been a blast getting to work on "the Greeks" and on a devised movement piece with some the first-year directing students in Columbia University's MFA program. With usually only a couple rehearsals to put everything together and polish up before the in-class presentation, it was a great exercise in being present and adaptable as a collaborator and performer. The end of Columbia's school term culminated in a full staging and public performance of Euripides' play The Bacchae, in which I had a deliciously good time appearing as a snake-wielding, maniacally giggling member of the Bacchae chorus in a scene directed by the fabulous MFA directing candidate Anna Rebek. Some photos below of the first performance iteration of the scene!
I also was SO excited to get to get the opportunity to reconnect artistically with my friend, fellow UChicago alum and all around incredible human Éamon Boylan! Inspired by and adapted from Enda Walsh's radio plays Rooms, we (along with fellow performers and co-collaborators Marlee Miller and Anise) devised and workshopped a set of immersive, movement-based pieces that explored how the character of specific domestic spaces can live within and be expressed by the human body. It felt like we accomplished so much within the few hours we shared with each other and these pieces, and I can't wait to hopefully collaborate again in the new year with everyone who was involved! Photos of me below from our last workshop session :)
So hyped to see what new artistic adventures 2018 brings, and to keep the good vibes flowing with all the co-collaborators/conspirators I was able to connect with in 2017. Keep an eye on this blog to stay up-to-date on all my shenanigans and you might just be rewarded with more photos of my face in the near future ;)
