GASP! @ Dixon Place
In need of a good scare to liven up the holidays? Come get your spooky fix next week at the workshop production of GASP!
GASP! is the story of a Horror Writing Empathy Class whose presence on a historic campus echoes back in time and unlocks an ancient evil. Over the course of a 48-hour retreat families, couples, and participants engage in role-playing and writing exercises in order to try and increase their positive communication skills through the lens of horror. Just as the group is coming closer to achieving their communication goals, a journal beckons from the past and reveals the campus’ sinister history. As they continue to dig, they awaken an ancient evil with an appetite for souls… Truth and communication are put to the ultimate test if they are to work together and make it out alive.
I am BEYOND THRILLED to be reunited once again with director and friend Anna Rebek, a Columbia MFA Directing Candidate in her final year, and to be performing in the first iteration of her thesis project! With a full production of GASP! slated to go up in March 2020, this winter workshop production is the very first time this new play will be presented to an audience whose presence and feedback will be very helpful in the continued developmental process. A post-performance Q&A session will be held in the Dixon Place lounge for audience members who wish to stay and participate, so fellow artists, theater-makers, and art/horror lovers are especially welcome!
Check out our official show page for more info! Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Discounts are available for tickets purchased in advance and for students, seniors, and IDNYC holders.
This workshop production of GASP! directed by Anna Rebek runs approximately 90 minutes, and will be presented on Wednesday, December 18th at 7:30pm on the Mainstage at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). Hope to see you there!!!
