King Lear @ The Brick Theater

King Lear opens in just a few days!!!

I know, it snuck up on me too...

So pumped to be tackling the (dream)role of Cordelia in this new interpretation of Shakespeare's tragedy set in the psychedelic and sexed-up world of a 1960's cult at the brink of an internal crisis. With special emphasis on movement and projection, this production investigates the challenges of speaking truth to power, the ties of loyalty that bind a family together, and the heartbreaking consequences of the dissolution of the human mind.

Our Family Portrait! Pictured from back to front, left to right: Isaac Beauchamp (Lear), Cameron Bell (Edgar), Lindsey Ackerman (Kent), Ahkai Franklin (Gloucester), Levi Adkins (Edmund), Germainne Lebron (Cornwall), Phoebe Brooks (Oswald), Emily Caffery (Fool/Albany), Erin Amlicke (Regan), Kat Peña (Gonereil), and me (Cordelia).

This production also reunites me with the lovely and ever-zany Anna Rebek, who was one of the first directors to take a chance on me in NYC. She directed me earlier this year in Columbia University's production of The Bacchae, and hopefully this production of King Lear is only one of many more collaborations to come!
